No one knew that organisms could get you sick or be sickened. They didn't know anything that strongly about the medical field. They didn't really even know what a disease was or how they got it. They believed that if you got sick then it was because of a punishment. The work of Demons was a belief and so was a work of witches. There knowledge on health was more based on mythology or superstitions than real. Some people even thought bad odors caused sickness.
They knew that sickness was a bad thing though and tried to stay far from it. It was just not the best place for people who lived way back then, Sometimes even living was dangerous or bad for Medieval people because there jobs were hard, like farming was dangerous for them because it was a difficult job and they had heavy work done by animals often.
Illnesses were horrible back then, I would have hated living in the Medieval Times and getting a disease, or sickness.
I didnt know that people get sick from bad odor. I think I would have hated being sick in the Medieval times too!
